Hayfield St Johns Flower Festival (St Johns Methodist Church, 17 New Mills Road, Hayfield. Derbyshire SK22 2EX Derbyshire SK22 2EX)

Our successful recent annual festivals continue this year on the new theme of “Musicals”. It is held in the beautiful and historic Methodist chapel in Hayfield, Derbyshire. A well dressing adjoins the church and wells throughout the village will also be dressed. Light Refreshments available. Coach parties welcome – prior notification is preferred.

Weekdays 10 – 4.30. Saturdays and Sundays 2 -4.30. No charge to view. Donations welcome.

The Storyteller Who Forgot (St John's Methodist Church Hayfield)


Devised from a traditional Celtic folktale, this professional production mixes performers and puppets to tell the tale of a storyteller having a bad day and the adventures he undertakes to find a new story.
It is brought to us by the live and local organisation (http://www.liveandlocal.org.uk) and is suitable for children and brave adults. The professional company is known as the babbling vagabonds storytelling theatre (http://www.babblingvagabonds.co.uk)

 Tickets are £7.00/£5.00 (children) or £20.00 (Family:2 adult, 2 child) available from Shaws Shop, Market street, Hayfield or phone 01663 742872. Ticket prices are set by the Live and local organisation.

Annual Events

The annual Hayfield May Queen Festival features visiting Queens, a May Queen Parade, bands, floats, vintage vehicles, motorbikes, fancy dress, other entertainment and a fair and attracts around 1000 visitors every year.

Hayfield Country Show and Sheep Dog Trials are held every September in the nearby hamlet of Little Hayfield (the birthplace of Coronation Street!). The event attracts huge numbers of visitors from home and abroad and includes not only sheep dog trials but dog shows, falconry and many inter-village contests.

Fell Races over Lantern Pike are held every year and provide a gruelling tests for both professional and amateur athletes from across the country and further afield. Are you brave enough to take part? Let me know if you need more!
